• If you are planning to apply for a GRC for your Spring 2016 research-exposure  course, the deadline to apply is December 5, 2015.

• The Center for Engaged Learning at Elon University is hosting a conference on Excellent Practices in Mentoring Undergraduate Research on July 24 – 25, 2016. You may be interested in attending or submitting an abstract (Deadline: November 15).  

Undergraduate Research in the Social Sciences

Do you want to learn more about undergraduate research and the opportunities and resources available for you? Come hear from faculty members, student researchers, and OUR staff about their experiences, advice and guidance. We’ll have lots of time for questions and discussion. Come discover what’s possible for you!

SURF Information Session
Tuesday, November 10, 2015
5:00-6:30 p.m.
Location: Gardner 105

In this workshop, you will hear from past Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) recipients about how they developed their successful proposals. There will be a short presentation by the Writing Center on how to develop proposals. We will discuss the approval process for human subjects research. You will have the opportunity to talk with OUR staff about proposal design, and learn more about the SURF Peer Writing Advisors who can give you valuable feedback on your proposal prior to submission.

 The NC Space Grant/LORD Corporation Summer Internship Program offers funding for 2-6 undergraduate or graduate students pursuing degrees in STEM disciplines to participate in a 10-week internship at LORD Corporation's world headquarters campus in Cary. Deadline to apply: November 1, 2015.

Data Tools for the Classroom: Want your students to use data and statistics but think it's too complicated? This workshop will present a variety of tools and resources from very simple to more complex that will have them using data right away. Hosted by the Librarian for Numeric Data Services & Data Management in Davis Library and the Odum Institute for Research in Social Science

The Carolina Center for Jewish Studies offers undergraduate research and travel grants with various deadlines.

Here is a call for papers for the Perspectives on Undergraduate Research and Mentoring (PURM) Fall 2016 special issue on Mentoring Undergraduate Research in the Professional Disciplines. Educators and students are invited to submit papers that explore the unique challenges and experiences of mentoring undergraduate research in these professional fields. Deadline for submission: February 1, 2016.
