Black feminist theory has done much to demonstrate that African American women experience sexuality and navigate sexual spaces, when able, in ways that are unique to them. These distinctions, however, are connected to the perceived and actual behaviors that manifest themselves in sexual risk behaviors as well as a lack of sexual agency. This study aims to identify sexual education intervention strategies that exist for this minority population, and to analyze the degree to which these strategies have been efficacious in addressing issues of sexual agency and sexual risk behaviors inasmuch as said interventions are equipped to address the intersectionality of African American women’s oppression.
