Ever since globalization has taken ahold of the global economy, the status of workers' rights has been in question. Millions of people around the globe are in serious poverty, and the only way they can pull themselves out if through the low-wage, poor-conditioned jobs that are funded by multi-national corporations in developing countries. Cambodia is one of these countries afflicted by problems with workers' rights. The growing textile industry has led to very poor conditions for workers in sweatshops. In this article the correlation between foreign direct investment inflows and the incomes of the lowest 20% of the population are analyzed to show that globalization has not negatively affected workers' rights in Cambodia.
