Ambassador Application

Interested in serving as an OUR Ambassador? We are seeking undergraduate researchers from all academic disciplines who can serve as resources to help their peers learn about research at Carolina and find opportunities for getting involved.

The duties that OUR Student Ambassadors fulfill are as follows:

1) Meet a minimum of three times per semester for program planning and professional development;
2) Serve as a peer mentor to ~5-10 fellow undergraduates;
3) Respond to email inquiries from interested peers;
4) Engage in outreach activities; and
5) Commit to spending approximately 15-20 hours/semester on ambassador activities.

Please submit Ambassador applications by March 31st. Late applications may be considered but not guaranteed review. Please be aware that Ambassador interviews occur only in the spring (for students willing to serve the following year).

  • Please list any other affiliations (clubs, organizations) to which you belong that might be relevant to your role as an ambassador (i.e., for whom you might do outreach on behalf of the OUR).
  • Please indicate which of the following OUR programs you have been involved with, if any.
  • Explain a) why you think the OUR Ambassador program is important for students, and b) why you would like to become an Ambassador (400 word limit)
  • Briefly describe your research experience(s), including subject/department, mentor(s), and duration. What impact have these experiences had on you? (400 word limit)
  • Describe any mentoring, counseling, or peer education you've been part of -- on either side (e.g. mentor OR mentee).
  • Approximately how many hours a month do you think you could realistically commit to being an ambassador?
  • What other commitments will be vying for your time in 2024-2025?
