Add a Conference to the CRS Approved List
Add a Conference to the CRS Approved List
The Carolina Research Scholar (CRS) Program requires students to present their research at a public conference or symposium. If a student wishes to use a UNC-Chapel Hill conference to fulfill this requirement and that conference is not already on the list of pre-approved conferences, the student must submit a petition to have the conference added to the list. If the conference not being held at UNC-Chapel Hill, the student must ask a faculty member to send a statement to OUR confirming that the event meets the requirements for a professional conference or meeting and that the student presented his/her research at the event. Please note that Honors Thesis presentations and course-specific symposia do not fulfill this requirement.
Requirements for a Professional Conference
- Conference is held annually
- Attendance is open to the campus community or the general public
- Students give an oral presentation that is at least 10 minutes long or present their research at a poster session
- Students have the opportunity to discuss their research with others
- There are at least 25 presenters and 50 attendees
- It is advertised broadly to the UNC community
