Computer Science Research Assistant
Thank you for your interest in the DEPENd Lab!
The DEPENd Lab (director: Dr. Michael Hallquist) is currently recruiting undergraduate research assistants with strong programming backgrounds. We are seeking applicants with substantial experience and training in computer science or related fields. Students who have experience using R, Python, or MATLAB are especially encouraged to apply.
Our lab studies neurocomputational mechanisms of learning, decision-making, and emotion in those with and without personality pathology (i.e., symptoms of personality disorders). In particular, our research investigates abnormalities underlying Borderline Personality Disorder and its development during adolescence and early adulthood. To study these topics, we use a variety of techniques including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), computational modeling, physiological recording, and diverse behavioral methods.
Programming plays an integral role in all phases of our research, being essential for the development of experimental tasks and for data processing, management, and analysis. Students in this position will have the opportunity to apply their programming knowledge to tackle challenges in these areas, making key contributions to our research.
Qualifications:
We are looking for students who are responsible, reliable (e.g., timely), motivated, and mature. Students must have a minimum 3.2 GPA, be able to commit 6-12 hours a week to lab work. The position will begin in Fall 2022 and requires at least a one year commitment.
How to apply:
If you are interested in joining our lab, please fill out the following form and include your resume/CV (optional).
We are accepting applications on a rolling basis. If we believe you are a good fit for the lab, we will reach out to schedule an interview with you.
