Description

The Brown Lab in the Gillings Department of Environmental Health Sciences is seeking to fill 3 paid research assistant positions for the fall and spring. We are looking to hire motivated and detail oriented students to assist with multiple projects focusing on environmental health and engineering. Projects include antimicrobial resistance surveillance and testing, cell infectivity using a Covid-surrogate virus, and citizen science testing of private well water. Students will be involved in surface water and wastewater testing, cell culture, and field sampling. Prior lab experience is not necessary but a plus!
Opportunities are available for students to contribute to scientific publications and posters and lead original projects. Students may also discuss completing honors theses or research for credit.
Hours are flexible, but a minimum of 8-10 hours are expected per week during the fall and spring semester.
