Description

Lab assistant in a research laboratory that studies mechanisms of joint injury in osteoarthritis. The candidate should be able to perform routine laboratory maintenance and duties for research activities. Typical duties include: preparing solutions and media; keeping supplies stocked for laboratory use; cleaning glassware, prepare for autoclaving; use of autoclave for sterilizing laboratory items; maintaining tissue culture incubators and autoclaving waste; genotyping using PCR techniques; animal husbandry and behavioral testing; aquisition and organization of data; histological techniques, photomicroscopy and ImageJ analysis of microscope imaging; remote data organization and analysis.

The candidate must have the ability to work with other laboratory personnel, follow directions, have good work ethics, be reliable, and dependable. Experimental work to include rodent handling and behavioral assays. Tissues will be utilized for histological sectioning, staining, imaging and analysis. The advanced candidate will be readily assigned higher levels of responsibilities utilizing advanced techniques. A background in science is preferred.
