Programming Research Assistant
We are hiring a research assistant!
Details: $20/hour. Up to 15 hours per week. Flexible hours and remote work.
Contribute to our research team’s work on promoting online cancer support for young adults with cancer and reducing cancer misinformation on social media. Our work is funded by Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the National Cancer Institute and led by Dr. Allison Lazard. This position will primarily support our Research Software Engineer.
Our goal is to improve health communication and cancer support for those who need it the most. To do so, we are conducting several studies to promote “good” cancer support and reduce “bad” posts on social media. In our studies, we often show our health communication stimuli as images and captions in many days’ worth of social media feeds in our simulated platform. We need help creating programming study materials and executing the research.
If you have experience with the following, this position is likely a good fit for you:
• Building front-end applications
• Javascript (and/or Typescript)
• React or other component-based architecture
• Github, Gitlab or other source control
Our stack is Typescript-Next.js-MongoDB hosted with Vercel, so experience in any of these is a plus. Experience in some, but not all, is welcomed; an ideal candidate will be ready to contribute with what they know and ready to learn what they don’t.
