Description

The Yan Lab in the Department of Applied Physical Sciences has 2 research assistant positions (paid) to start ASAP over the summer. One position will be focused on the synthesis of metal and metal oxide nanomaterials using wet chemistry methods. These nanomaterials will be further studied by optical microscopy and spectroscopy, especially for photocatalysis and optical trapping experiments. The other position will be focused on optical tweezers and construction of customized optical systems. We look for upcoming junior or senior undergraduates with backgrounds and strong interests in chemistry or optics for these positions, and welcome the students to continue the research in the fall semester by taking research course credits. A minimum of 8-10 hours per week is expected in the summer. Please send your CV (list relevant courses and research experiences) to yanlab@unc.edu if you are interested in these positions.
