Recently the threat of radicalization amongst Muslim-American communities has been a pressing concern for national security policies, and was brought to the attention of Congress through several hearings ran by Representative Peter King (R-NY) in 2011. In 2009, nearly 50 Muslim-American citizens were arrested on charges of engaging in violent plots. This research documents the trends of domestic terrorism and terrorism support by Muslim-Americans since the 9/11 attacks, and demonstrates a decline in violent plots for the second year in a row.
