Faculty Application for UNC Amgen Scholars

Please fill out the form below to apply to be listed as a potential undergraduate mentor for summer 2024. Note: not all faculty who sign up to be a potential mentor will be matched with a student in 2024 (approx. May 29-July 26, 2024). UNC-CH plans to have a pool of ~40-50 possible mentors with whom applicants can try to match (see Duke University’s list of Amgen faculty mentors for an example). Eligible faculty mentors will be contacted in February 2024 regarding possible matches.

UNC Amgen Scholars Faculty Mentor Application

Thank you for your interest in providing mentorship to a UNC Amgen Scholar in summer 2024. UNC will host a total of 10 Amgen Scholar (8 selected nationally, up to 2 from UNC-CH) each year at various labs on campus. UNC-CH plans to have a pool of ~40-50 possible mentors with whom applicants can try to match. Eligible faculty mentors will be contacted in February 2024 regarding possible matches. I give permission to the Office for Undergraduate Research to list me as a potential faculty mentor for an undergraduate in the Summer 2024 UNC Amgen Scholars Program (approximate program dates May 27-Aug 2, 2024). I acknowledge that my name, photo, and research areas will be listed on the UNC Amgen Scholars webpage.

If an undergraduate student is placed in my lab, I will provide overall mentorship and research guidance for the student, including direct bench mentorship from a lab member (post-doc, graduate student) as necessary.

I am aware that signing up to be a potential mentor does not guarantee that I will be matched with a student in 2024.
