Social motives for substance use have been linked to actual substance use in the college population. The current study sought to investigate the potential of peer injunctive norms as a moderator between the relationship between social motive endorsements and substance use across drug classes, as well as across and within categories of dual and tri-substance student users. 412 college students completed a questionnaire concerning their motives for use of alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana, as well as their perception of injunctive norms for the use of each substance, and their actual use of each substance in the last year. Data analyses has not yet concluded.
