An enantioselective, intermolecular, transition-metal-catalyzed approach to the synthesis of eight-membered carbocycles is described. These [4+2+2] cycloadditions generate multiple carbon-carbon bonds and stereocenters in a single step, improving upon previous carbocycles synthesis strategies. This method demonstrates high regioselectivity, high diastereoselectivity, and good enantioselectivity.
