One of the core motivations of the biology community is the accurate 3-dimensional visualization of biological specimens. A common method used to accomplish this is fluorescence imaging, wherein a piece of a sample such as a protein or membrane is made to fluoresce upon contact with light of a certain wavelength. In order to discern the physical structure of objects viewed under fluorescence microscopes, the goal of this project is to enable the precise estimation of geometries from images obtained by these instruments. In order to do this, I have implemented a deconvolution filter known as the Wiener filter into ITK, an open-source software suite for image processing.
