Love in the Time of Domestic Battle: An Analysis of Civil War Love Letters (2012)

In discussion of the American Civil War, the subjects such as slavery, states' rights, and other subjects of historical nature garner the most attention. But what about subjects of a more rhetorical nature? How did the soldiers fighting in the Civil War communicate with their loved ones back home? To answer these questions, I analyzed the love letters of Civil War soldiers to see their letters contained similar topics and structures.
