Volunteers Needed – Autism Research Study

The purpose of this study is to examine the social use of language in school-age children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and typically developing (TD) children.
We are currently looking for highly motivated volunteers to assist with study tasks, including data entry, data cleaning and management, data processing and analysis. Eligible students will have many opportunities to gain training and experience in qualitative data analysis, literature reviews, and quantitative data analysis.

Student assistants will be working remotely. Hours are flexible but a commitment of at least 8-10 hours/ week is required.

If you’re considering graduate school, this is a great opportunity to experience working on a research study. Also, opportunities are available for volunteers to contribute to scientific posters and complete their own research projects in areas related to the collected data.

Primary duties: student assistants will assist with the following tasks:
• Attend weekly lab meetings via Zoom
• Assist with data entry, cleaning, and management
• Code and analyze child language data
• Conduct statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics, modeling, and visualizations

Training Received: This will be a great training opportunity for students interested in pursuing graduate study in Speech-Language Pathology, Education, Psychology, social work, statistics and related fields.

Eligibility: Must be a college junior, senior or a graduate student. Experience working with children is preferred. Coursework in language development, child behavior, psychology, statistics, and/ or research methods is preferred. Basic knowledge of Excel is a must. No prior lab experience is necessary.

Volunteers will be required to complete human subjects training.

Commitment requirements: A minimum of 8-10 hours per week. Hours are flexible.
